Professional School Of Motoring

This is our latest service, and is for those who are new to towing a caravan or who are coming back to it after a break and would like to update their skills and knowledge.

Especially with more families now looking to holiday at home in the UK - which is great news for the British leisure industry - it's really important to know how to stay safe and legal if you want to take your hotel on wheels with you.

A lot of people think they need to take a B+E test to tow a caravan if they passed their car driving test after January 1997. You might do if you want to use a bigger and heavier unit - but you CAN legally tow a caravan with a normal car as long as the total overall weight of the two combined is below 3500kg. That's called the Maximum Authorised Mass - but for safety, remember to keep the caravan's laden weight less than that of your car. A dealer should be able to tell you if it's ok, but if you're still not sure or if you're buying privately get in touch for a chat.

The good news is that there are increasingly more caravans being built lighter, so that new owners don't need to take an additional test.

But it's essential to know what you're doing; and we can help with a bespoke one-to-one towing course covering everything you need to be aware of to tow your caravan safely.
